Handheld vacuums are miniature models. There are both corded handheld and cordless vacuum cleaners available in the market. They are great for quick surface cleaning and can be used on bare floors or short-pile carpets. Hand vacuum cleaners can be used to remove pet hair on upholstery or to clean a car’s interior.

Whether you are choosing a cordless vacuum, a portable vacuum or a corded mini vacuum, note that these are the features you need to consider.

Runtime factor

Portable vacuums and cordless hand vacuums have a battery than can be recharged. They will only run for 15 or 30 minutes at a stretch. When you’re buying a new one, make sure you check the manual online. Look for details regarding the runtime. Analyse whether you can work according to its runtime features.

Note the switches

When buying a mini vacuum, check out its controls thoroughly. Some will have a power switch and some will need to be held down while working. The latter can be inconvenient and tiring. Look for a cordless hand vacuum that has different speed levels if you’re going to be using it for more than just a quick clean up.

Find out weight and size

Find out exactly how much the handheld vacuum weighs before you buy it in store or order it online. You will need to use one that is comfortable. Choosing a heavy mini vacuum can result in spraining your wrist. Consider the size of the vacuum as well especially if you’re looking for a portable vacuum. How well can you store it and move it around? This needs to be given some thought before you invest in one.

Are there other helpful attachments?

Note that a few models will include rotating brushes. These are very useful when it comes to cleaning carpets or cleaning pet hair off of surfaces. Other parts like crevice tools, dusting brushes or short accessory hoses will also help make your cleaning work easier.

Check the waste container specifications

The waste container will come in different sizes and shapes. Larger containers will need less emptying out. But not all of them will be easy to remove so you will have to check the ease of usage as far as the waste container is concerned. Buying a clear container will help you know when it needs to be emptied out.

What sort of debris can it handle?

You need to know if your mini vacuum can handle both wet and dry debris. Drink spills and solids should be easily sucked up in to it. If you need to buy one that has both the dry and wet feature then make sure it has a powerful suction. This will generally be a high voltage model.

Apart from all of these factors, try ensure that there is a battery level indicator. This will make sure you are always aware of when the vacuum needs to be charged. Your work will never be interrupted.
